The newspaper source related to my major that I found was “AccountingToday.”  This newspaper has casually detailed articles with great research and a wide variety of accounting topics.  These accounting topics range from the practices of auditing to technology in accounting.  The delivery of the information in this newspaper is more informal and casual.  In addition, the style of this newspaper is more casual and is very inviting.  Also, this newspaper has a wide variety of writers that communicate information in different ways.  The purpose of this newspaper is to entertain and to inform people about certain practices or incidents in accounting.  Overall, this newspaper is of a very pristine quality, but it is meant more for a casual audience.

The scholarly article related to my major that I found is “Management and Cost Accounting” by Colin Drury.  This article is very detailed and has lots of information that is related to many different aspects of accounting.  The delivery of the article is very formal and the writing is filled with great research and assessments.  Furthermore, the style of this article is very formal which helps it give off a more serious tone.   Also, this article covers a wide variety of information about certain concepts in accounting.  The purpose of this article is to inform people about certain aspects of management and cost accounting using detailed research.  Overall, this scholarly article is very detailed and is in a formal tone that relates well to people of business.

These two different resources have many differences and few similarities.  Similarities that these two different resources have are that they are about accounting, and they talk about many different accounting topics.  The differences that they have are that the scholarly article is much more formal in delivery and style than the newspaper.  In addition, the scholarly article is more focused on a single person’s point of view than the newspaper.  Overall, the scholarly article is a better source to trust because it has more reputable and scientific information than the newspaper.

Thank you,
Austin Bechtel
