With it being football Sunday I was wondering what NFL team has the highest SportsMoney Index and are these teams successful. As of 2017 the NFL Salary Cap is set at $167 million. This is over a $12 million raise from 2017. Since 2012 the salary cap has been raised by over $47 million. Below is a list of the top 5 teams with the highest net worth, their net worth, revenue, and their records.
  1. Dallas Cowboys
Net worth: $4.0 billion
Revenue (2014): $620 million
2. New England Patriots
Net worth: $3.2 billion
Revenue (2014): $494 million
3. Washington Redskins
Net worth: $2.85 billion
Revenue (2014): $439 million
4. New York Giants
Net worth: $2.8 billion
Revenue (2014): $400 million
5. San Francisco 49ers
Net worth: $2.7 billion
Revenue (2014): $427 million
These 5 teams may be the 5 that are worth the most in the NFL currently, but there net worth does not seem to correspond with their record. For example the 49ers are in the top 5 for net worth, but they only won 2 games in the 2016 season.

I find this to be interesting, because I would have thought that the teams with the best records would be worth the most, and that does not always seem to be the case. Looking at it from a business standpoint I would be wary of investing in something with a negative record, but by looking at their annual revenue, I would see it as a potentially good investment.
